Related Disorders

Many cases of autism or autism spectrum disorder are idiopathic - which means they have no known cause. Others co-occur with known disorders or syndromes. Understanding how and why autism appears together with these other conditions may provide clues that propel autism research forward. Of course, if a child has autism associated with another condition, understanding that other condition and how it overlaps with autism may also be key to identifying appropriate interventions.
