Glossary Term: Verbal Behavior (VB)
Definition: An intervention, often seen as an adjunct to Applied Behavioral Analysis, which is directed towards helping children on the autism spectrum develop language. Verbal Behavior attempts to capture a child's motivation to develop a connection between the value of a word and the word itself. This may be an improvement over traditional ABA which focuses on labeling objects rather than spontaneous use of language.
