What is THIS PERSON'S current Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Diagnosis?Questionnaire: Child with ASD Why Is This Important?Researchers are interested in knowing how many children are receiving which type of Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis. Educators and policy makers are interested in this question, as well, because it may impact the specific services that will be needed by these children in the future. Data from IAN Research:
This chart shows what percentage of children in IAN Research currently have each of the diagnoses on the autism spectrum. 49% of the children in IAN with an ASD have a current diagnosis of Autism, while 23% have a current diagnosis of PDD-NOS, and 17% have a current diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome. Current diagnosis is often different from first diagnosis, of course. When comparing this chart showing Current Diagnosis to the chart showing First Diagnosis, it appears that most of those whose diagnosis changed moved from a diagnosis of PDD-NOS to a diagnosis of Autism. |
