IAN Community E-Newsletter - June 27, 2007Welcome to the first edition of the IAN Community e-newsletter! The IAN Project, which launched on April 2, 2007, accelerates the pace of autism research. It consists of IAN Research, which gathers information online from families with a child with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and the IAN Community, a welcoming library and meeting place linking the autism community and researchers. After its first two and a half months in operation, the IAN Project has much news to share. The IAN Community now has hundreds of interesting research-related articles and news items. If you haven’t seen us lately, please visit. First IAN Research ReportAs of June 27, 2007, IAN has collected data from nearly 16,000 individuals: children with ASDs, their parents, brothers, and sisters. Scientists from around the world will be applying to use this valuable resource to make new discoveries. In the meantime, we at IAN have conducted some preliminary analyses and have findings to present in our first IAN Research Report. Second Annual IAN Research ConferenceOn June 19, 2007, autism researchers from a variety of disciplines, as well as parent-advocates, gathered in Baltimore, Maryland for the Second Annual IAN Research Conference. The overall goal of the meeting was to demonstrate to the scientific community how IAN can help them in their crucial work, to request their support and involvement, and to share what the IAN staff has learned from you. Read the IAN Research Conference Report, complete with agenda, guest list, and PowerPoint presentations.
