Stay Involved as a Simons Simplex Family: Join the Simons Simplex Community @ Interactive Autism Network

Simons Simplex Community at Interactive Autism Network LogoWelcome Simons Simplex families!

Now that the initial family recruitment phase of the Simons Simplex Collection (SSC) project is complete, we are inviting SSC families from across North America into a new autism research home where they can learn about ongoing SSC Dad in baseball hat with mom and two sons in front of a treeresearch efforts and findings. This online home is called the Simons Simplex Community @ Interactive Autism Network (SSC@IAN). Through SSC@IAN, you'll learn about SSC follow-up studies and SSC-focused online surveys. You'll also receive news about research advances made possible by the participation of SSC families.

What is IAN?

The Interactive Autism Network (IAN) is the nation’s largest online autism research project. We collect information from thousands of families affected by autism spectrum disorders across the U.S. via web-based questionnaires. We also match families to research studies recruiting around the country. Our mission is to accelerate autism research.

Now IAN has partnered with the Simons Foundation to help coordinate ongoing research activities involving Simons Simplex families like yours. "SSC@IAN" will be your new autism research home.

Some SSC families already participate in IAN Research. Some even learned about the Simons Simplex Collection through IAN. (As noted above, we help recruit for many research projects, and assisted the Simons Foundation during SSC recruitment.)

Joining SSC@IAN is easy, whether you are learning about IAN for the first time or are already participating in IAN.

Join IAN Research and SSC@IAN at the same time

Registering with IAN Research and SSC@IAN used to be a multi-step process, but we have worked to make it much easier. Now, with our "fast track" consent process, all you need to do is click on a link in an email we'll be sending. The link will take you directly to an online consent form addressing participation in both IAN and SSC@IAN. By clicking "YES" for each family member listed in this simple online form, you will be:

  1. Registering that person in the IAN Research Project.
  2. Registering that person in SSC@IAN -- which gives him/her a special status within IAN as a Simons Simplex person.

Already participating in IAN?

If you are already registered with IAN Research, clicking "YES" in the online consent form for yourself and other eligible family members will simply confirm your existing participation in IAN Research while adding participation in SSC@IAN.
