My son also has major issues with eating. He is four years old, and we are in the process of being diagnostically evaluated for ASD. I just want to thank everyone for what they wrote here, because it makes me feel not so "alone" in this (not only in the "eating" thing, but in all the feelings I have regarding my son's behaviors). I too worry about my son's nutrition, especially because the only thing he wants to eat are Cheez-its & milk. I guess I never considered before the items that he eats being related to his disorder, I knew it was a texture thing with him, but it is really interesting to see that some of your children prefer the exact same items. His eating habits have sometimes made me feel like a "bad mother", especially when others comment on his diet, but you can't make a person "like" a particular food. I don't know what else to do other than to give him the Cheez-its & milk.

Hi krich, and welcome to IAN.
I am so glad this forum has been helpful. As you can see, you are not alone in these concerns.
Your comments and those of the other families here have made me wonder if we might be able to find a nutritionist to write an article addressing some of this for IAN Community. It is certainly a concern that comes up for a great many families, with moms especially feeling guilty and helpless when they can't expand their child's menu. I will see if I can find some information about this.
