I am the mother of a wonderful 3yr old daughter. She recieved her diagnosis in December. I decedid to join because I feel that connecting with other parents of autistic children could help alot. With all of the information out there I feel so lost.

Hi all4che, and welcome to IAN.

I know it is so very hard when you first receive an autism spectrum diagnosis for your child. (I have a child on the spectrum, too.) I hope these message boards will help you know that you are not the only one traveling this road. So many walk it with you.

I did want to tell you about a new resource provided by Autism Speaks which is especially for families whose children have just been diagnosed. It's called the Autism Response Team - you can call or e-mail them for help with identifying local information, opportunities, and resources:

HI,
My name is barbara and i have a 6 yr old son named Cory who has autism, he was diagnosed when he was 3, and it was such a shock, I kept thinking no way not my son, It can be very overwelming and depressing at times, so if you ever need to talk please feel free to email me anytime, Its nice to know someone understands exactly what you are going through.....Thanks Barbara

My son is 5 and we are still up in the air waiting to know whats wrong.adhd?autism? ahhh
