I have heard of that saying " You are being too over protective"

When my mom and dad found out that i was Deaf and could not hear, they took me to a Dr. to see what was wrong. At first the Dr. said that they (my parents) were first time parents who are worried. My mom was mad at the Dr. and had a gut feeling that there actually was something wrong with me. When she took me to another Dr. he actually did say that i had a hearing problem and that i should get tested. As i became older, i had gotten speech therapy and tutoring service to help me academically and my language improvement. When i was in 8th grade, i had to change schools because the school i went to all my life didn't want to give me certain accommodations for high school... so i went to a school that would and i did a great job, probably better than i would have done at the other school.

Anyways... my point is... don't rely on one answer... search around... also i believe more people in the medical field need to be more honest and know their stuff.

Thanks,
Dottie

I am so sick of hearing this. I did not intervene in my child's educational experience until she became suicidal and told me that school was "unsafe". It was clear that I needed to be a bit more protective!
