Hi~
I was just wondering if any studies have been done or what your experience has been if you have or know of someone who has twins - one WITH ASD and one WITHOUT? I have twin boys and one has been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome and the other does not have any symptoms of autism. Anyone else? Thanks!

Hi Renee, and welcome to IAN.

I invite other parents of twins to share their experiences with you here.

I did want to direct you to two recent articles about twins on our website. One is about our own recent research on twins with ASD: http://www.iancommunity.org/cs/ian_research_reports/ian_research_report_oct_2009

As you will see, there definitely are cases where one twin has an ASD and the other does not, so you are not alone in that circumstance.

We also have an interview about twin research in autism with an expert in the field, here: http://www.iancommunity.org/cs/articles/twin_interview
