Our Doctor sent us the state for diagnosis. They sent us to the university.

They ran our daughter through 5 or 6 different disciplines I.E. psychology, Med, Edu, ect... Spent a entire day (in public with a Autistic kid) there plus travel, lodging, away from work, taking care of our other kid. Our daughter melted down the ENTIRE night at the hotel. To tell us something we already knew.

When it was final they told us more of what we already knew. The only "Value Added" part was having the diagnosis in hand.

They absolutely did not have anything to add to what we knew. And in fact due to our research we were more current than they were. "Oh we have not heard of that." Give me something for my money.

We are not just a footnote for your next book.

As you can tell I'm a little bitter about the whole process
I would like to see a "general discussion" topic. Sometimes I feel like this is the only place i can go to vent or voice my concerns about therapy's, news items, what we heard from a friend.

Everyone wants to sell a book, a program or something. I trust IAN to be unbiased and I think its the ideal forum for open discussion, venting, or sharing successes.

Please
Our daughter (7) pees on the floor in her room then comes to us "I go pee pee on carpet" Its miserable, the whole house stinks.

Three days ago I removed the carpet and padding. She has not gone since. I don't know if she likes the attention or if it was something else She is very "texture driven" fascinated by different flooring, grass or tile underfoot ect. she has been doing this for the better part of the year. For some reason she does not do it (yet) on the old hardwood. I know this doesn't answer your question its just what we have done that seems to help

I have been reading about "Blue laser" http://dsc.discovery.com/news/2009/04/29/brain-autism-laser.html and recently saw this http://www.2-b-well.org/?gclid=CPyMg8qjz58CFQTxDAodfigNpQ that claim's to cure autism with some CD's

I would like to find a place to post the articles we read or programs claims in a educated forum like this to solicit opinions as to the validity of the many claim's being made. The Blue laser sounds to me, like something that needs to be watched closely. While the other one sounds "to good to be true"
I touched this on another thread that did not recieve a response maybe I posted in the wrong area.

I know there has some limited use of trained dogs. We are having ever increasing issues of Chloe escaping. We currently lock all doors with both door lock and dead bolt.

I was wondering if this might be a job for trained dogs. You know " Bark bark...What is it lassie? She's down by the well? Bark bark."

I might be out in left field here. But it seems to be that most physical barrier's Fences, Locks ect. could be defeated given enough time. Or at least have a lot of failure modes (forgot to lock, Hole in fence ect) Does anyone have knowledge of the trained dogs I.E. What they are capable of where to find info and if the might be a covered resource??

Thanks
Bryan
Thank you for the responses.

After i posted I read more of the old posts here. And noticed that several people have simular issues.

That Encopresis scares me. We are working with her Doc and Internist. I think the Behavior treatment sounds like what we need. BTW She is potty trained. She just does not want to go into the bathroom.

I think the problem now is that we live in rural Iowa and resources are slim. I am trying to research that behavior treatment but cant find where its specifically addressed in whats availible to us. Thanks again.

I was just wondering if this couldnt be a job for a trained dog. We have simuliar issues with our daughter. Right now lock and deadbolt the doors is doing the trick. But its scary.

Any have any knowledge of what Assistance dogs can do in regard to this issue??

Bryan

I appreciate the GPS idea. But Ideally it need to be corrected before they totally escape the property.
Here is the deal.

My daughter is 7 and has evolved into a cycle of poop hording. She melts down at the suggestion of going potty. and avoids or just sits. She then gets constipated. This results is a suppository and slight tearing. Which causes her not to want to use the bathroom (fear of the suppository?) Her stool is loose enough and has supplements to keep it soft. Its obvious that hardness is only a problem due to the hoarding. It truly is a viscous circle

Seaway to problem # 2

She pee's in her room on the floor when no one is looking. We believe this ties directly into the poop hoarding. Avoiding the bathroom for fear of the suppository or a painful bowel movement.

I think most of this behavior could be a result of streep and other vaginal infections that have made the bathroom a place for uncomfortable things.

Looking for suggestions please.
