My son meet all his dev. milestones on time and his well baby visits always checked out normal, on time and etc. He had his shot's at around 14 mnths. Went home, ran high fever and his eyes where just glazed over. Called childrens' hosptial was told fever was not over 103 he was ok to alterante between tylenol and ibuprofen. Said the glazed look was due to the tylenol. Next couple of days wouldn't make eye contact and lost the words he had learned. Was told because he had a lot of ear infections and tubes put in this was normal don't worry mom, he is ok.
What I wonder is, he just turned 4 and guess what? He is due for his next round of vaccinations. He was just diagnosed the end of march with AUTISM and Dev. delay and Sensory processing and everything else that goes with Autism. I am Scared out of my mind to give my baby his next Vaccination's . Will he regress further? Will he loose his speech that has tripled since recieving speech therapy. I have alway's been PRO-Vaccines! but He's my Baby. Any Advice?
Thank you to everyone that has replied to my question! A month has come and gone but he now is telling me in FULL sentence's that I went potty and need it off please. What a blessing, I'll take his sweet little voice speaking to me anyday over going in the potty. I think he is going to get it someday when he is ready and not me, and his teacher's can change that.
Thank you Connie for your reply. I have contacted his peditrican and his Neuro Doctor. They advised me that it is hard for some children with Autism to make that Mind-body connection. They have to be able to know what is going on and understand it. They told me to wait for awhile and try again later. I don't really get the big deal. Everyone does things in their own time and I have all the confidence that if my son get's it, he get's it, if not I don't mind to change him. That's why he is special, and loved because he needs it.
My son is now 4 years old and was diagnosed with Autism along with developmental delays, sensory processing disorder and all the rest that goes with Autism. My question is, he is trained to pee in the potty and stays dry all night but he will not poop in the toilet. I have purchased 3 differnt potty's,blew up balloons offered stickers etc. He will sit on the potty for me to change and wipe him and to go thru the routine with the PEC's chart I made but no (go) in the potty, he cry's and say's no and will withold if I persist. I have quit asking because I think he will go in his own time. Do Autistic children ever potty train? I have heard it's hard. New to Diagnose's, unsure how to do this? and Pre-school teachers new to Autism, Live in a rural area with population of 3,700.
My son was able to talk very well until he turned 14mnths. and had to have tubes put in his ears for the second time. The doctor's kept telling me that him loosing his words was normal and that the ear pressure had to get back to normal. The doctor's also said that the fluid that was in his ear drums effected how his language was heard and recieved. I waited till past his 3rd birthaday while taking him to every well child visit and sick visits and everytime I asked if this was normal and was hand-flapping normal and him not grasping my hand anymore, and not being able to draw a circle and hold the pencil like he once did. They told me I was over worried and that it would come back until they finally listened and he was diagnosed with Autism and Developmental delays. It all started around the surgery and his last MMR shot.
