Read These Instructions First!

The IAN Community Discussion Forum is a place to discuss autism research-focused topics with others who share your interest. It is also a place to ask questions, make comments, or provide feedback about the IAN Research project.

You can read the Discussion Forums even if you have not joined IAN. If you would like to participate by posting, replying, or commenting, however, you will need to JOIN IAN.

These Forums are like a bulletin board where you can post or reply to messages. There are three levels: Categories, Forums, and Topics. Categories are the top-level subject areas, such as "IAN RESEARCH" or "AUTISM RESEARCH". Beneath each of these major areas, there are more specific "Forums" --areas that address that larger category in more detail.

The final level is "Topics." Think of these Topics as messages people are putting up on certain sections of a bulletin board for others to read.

As a registered user, you can post a new Topic under the appropriate Forum. You can also post replies or comments to other people's Topics. To post, just click on a Forum and then click on the New Topic button.

Once you have posted your Topic, you will be able to return to it to delete or edit. To reply to another user's Topic, open up their Topic and click on Post Reply.

If you want to quote another user's message, to make clear it's the one to which you're now responding, hit "Quote." This will place a copy of that original message above your reply, along with the Display Name of its author. This is very handy if there are a large number of replies to a topic. Using "Quote" helps everyone know who is responding to whom.
