Free Milestone Tracker App May Help Identify Autism Sooner
A free mobile app helps parents and caregivers track a child's development, to see if he is moving, walking, talking, and playing like other children his age, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
The CDC's "Learn the Signs, Act Early" program developed the Milestone Tracker app, which is available for Android and iOS (Apple) mobile devices. The app features developmental checklists for children ages 2 months through 5 years, information on when to talk with a doctor about a developmental concern, a milestone summary that can be shared with health care providers, and reminders for appointments and developmental screenings.
The goal is to help identify developmental delays and disorders, including autism, early so that children can receive intervention services as soon as possible. Early intervention can help reduce the symptoms of autism. To download the app, please visit the Milestones Tracker app page on the CDC website.
